OSHA stands for Occupational Safety and Health Administration, it was established to look after the wellbeing of employees, it ensures that all employed persons are working in conducive environment and guarantees their safety. To ensure that employers follow set rules, occupational safety and health administration enact strict rules on them, this forces the employers to take safety of their employees as number one key factor in their businesses. Self – employed and public employees in local government are not covered by occupational safety and health administration because they are covered elsewhere.
When an individual is an employer who is covered by OSHA, they should ensure that they provider their employees with jobs and a place of employment free from hazards that are likely to cause death or serious physical harm and ensure that they comply with the requirements and regulations that they are required to. Occupational safety and health administration states that employers have a task of giving well-maintained tools to their employees for effective working.
When employees suffer from injuries or health illnesses in workplaces whether it is their fault or not, the employers are to assist them with medical assistance and guidance.
Offering training to employees and reporting of death and hospitalization cases to occupational safety and health administration within the set time frame is a mandatory aspect for employers.Employers are supposed to keep well-maintained records of any work-related injuries and causes that led to such and present them to OSHA when asked to.
OSHA plays a major role in business, they provide safe and healthy workplace, provide tools and guidance to work toward an injury free workplace and also fine heavily those businesses that don’t comply with the set regulations. When there is conducive environment for employees, there is increase in productivity because employees are able to fully use their potential in the workplace, the feeling of unsafety and not cared for lowers the productivity.
Impression of customers, increased morale among employees, provision of better incentives for employees, and retention of business reputation simply means that there is increased productivity in any business. When the safety rules are followed, there is retention of employees at workplaces because hazards that are likely to cause deaths are well maintained, therefore, chances of accidents or health problems are minimal.
When set standards are followed, there is increased profitability because the employees are working in a conducive environment therefore, they are able to better their performance. When an employer follows set rules and regulations they don’t face any penalties this saves them money also, cash used in catering for increased hospitalization of employees due to injuries and health-related illnesses is no more.
